I did some design work and sold some product to a business and home in Rodeo, New Mexico. Just north of Rodeo is this pass on Hwy. 80 from I-10. As one travels south and comes through the pass, a huge expanse of a beautiful valley just opens up in front of you and is just breathtaking.
Unfortunately, I'm not good enough of a photographer yet to have gotten a really good picture of the valley but this is a pic of Granite Gap Pass as seen from the south.
To a lot of people from the northwest or back east where everything is green, they don't see the desert as a beautiful place. I have to say tho, I grew up in the Phoenix area and would work in the desert with my father looking for cactus and such when I was young. After a while of seeing it up close, I came to appreciate the ascetical beauty of the desert which is almost always juxtaposed against a clear blue sky with lazy clouds hanging about.
